ms2000 1,308 28 April 15, 2016 at 08:02 AM
I am looking for something to track a kid's location
Heard there is a smartphone app - what is it called - I am looking for one for Android?

I prefer one that does not have monthly fee - but if there si a good one, pls post it too.

Heard of a device "TrackR Bravo"?

Thanks

Update:
This is to track the kid remotely by parents
Can the TrackR Bravo be used to track your kid remotely - it is not the interned app - but it has no monthly fee.

Google location history might be a good one, but the phone would need to be linked with the google account and the downside is he could delete the account off the phone pretty easily if he wanted to.

Also, I know Verizon Wireless has a Family Locator program that you can sign up for and see where all your devices are.

I don't really know any apps that do this although I'm sure there are a bunch, I've just never looked into it myself.

I was going to recommend Android Device Manager - which tells you the location of a device - all for free, but it's tied with a google account (that you need the password to), so easy to subvert.

Or let your kid run around and be a kid? What are you so worried about?

You dont have to justify your request to fools like Jim who presume you come to a tech forum for their useless parenting advice. A quick google search or google play store search will yield lots of options.

This is built into the Google+ app, essentially the child shares their location from their own Google account with your account.

We use Life360. There is an option to pay monthly, I think only $5, for live assistance should you have car issues for example or to configure unlimited "Places" that you can use to set alerts when your circle members arrive or leave particular locations, etc. but if you don't need that then free.
Nice to be able to set up alerts should you want to know when someone leaves or arrives at locations or "Places".
Very handy app if you just got to know or wonder where someone you care about is.
