AMC Stubs Access and AMC Stubs Premiere will launch in April 2016 in Detroit, Dubuque, Houston, Miami, Omaha, and the Bay Area.

(mod note: while the program is technically free, its a benefit that may save $12+ a year, so I believe it is a hot deal instead of freebie)

AMC Theatres is test marketing a new free tier to AMC Stubs before its nationwide rollout.

The free version is now AMC Stubs Access, while the paid version is now called AMC Stubs Premiere. Seems like they're trying to compete with Regal Crown Club - although the benefits aren't quite as good as Regal, its a good enough program for those with only AMC theatres in their area.

- Online ticket convenience fees (aka Fandango) are waived with a certain dollar amount/number of tickets purchased, though the online details don't have the exact amount yet.

- Free refills on large popcorn, which I guess means they're not going to offer that to everyone now?

- Member appreciation Tuesday prices (morning prices all day)

- Screening offers

- Birthday gift: Free large popcorn

- $5 Reward for Every 5,000 Points Earned. Can be redeemed for concessions, only Premiere can redeem for tickets at a faster rate than Access.

I just renewed my AMC Stubs. So now I have AMC Stubs Premiere? What do I get that regular people don't?

EDIT: I read the FAQ

Your fandango fees are waived with no minimum purchase amount, say you're just one person buying a ticket with a discount. And you don't have to buy a minimum number of tickets to waive the fees too.

Plus you get size upgrades on drinks and popcorn (not so for Access). And your birthday gift is a drink and popcorn. Oh, and you earn points for tickets/concessions at a faster rate.

I don't really understand that part, but I guess AMC will be more clear about that once it's released nationwide.

Congratulations! Smilie

If you're already a paid AMC Stubs member, congratulations! You've already been updated to AMC Stubs Premiere status.

Yeah, I am worried about this change reducing the value of what is currently offered... The 5000 points thing sound like it's going to take more $ to earn a free $10 credit... Hope not, they will loose me. AMC def. the most overpriced theater where I live. I like it, but I am not rich.

Matinee prices on Tuesdays, definitely seems to be trying to compete with Regal. That's my usual movie night because of Regal's value Tuesdays.

Right now we get $10 back for every $100 spent, a 10% reward rate. I don't know what a "point" is, but there's no way the free membership is a 10% reward rate or anything close to it.

AMC is doing a great job confuse its own customers..

Basically, a free membership is a not-that-good-but-better-than-not membership.

New Stubs Premier is slightly upgraded version of current paid Stubs membershiping, minors here and there, and you get your $5 reward after every $50 (maybe even less) instead of $10 after $100 now.

It's funny how things are totally different in different areas. In our area the AMC is the cheap theater and it had the power recliners. Once Regal put in their reclines their prices went up even higher.

In the T&C [amctheatres.com], there are links to the area specific amc stubs, for instance the bay area [amctheatres.com].

Premiere: 100 points every $1, redeem at 5,000 points for $5 reward
Access: 20 points every $1

I didn't notice this when I started the thread, but it looks like different areas have different ticket minimums for online ticket fee waivers.

Bay Area, Detroit: 3 tickets (eek)
Omaha, Dubuque, Houston: 4 tickets (gadzooks!)

Hey, so long as they keep my reward rate the same, I've got no complaints. I'll take the extra perks.

I suppose this program will not grant points to the Silver or Gold tickets as AMC Stubs never did. Correct me if I am wrong. Smilie
