Good read for ppl who care about or have more expensive knives:

http://morethanjustsurviving.com/...sharpener/

TLDR:

"A good example of these gimmicky sharpers is the Presto Eversharp series, which is promoted as a one-step solution to give you professional results in minutes for only 30 bucks. Yeah no. You’re not even going to get the same kind of edge Ikea puts on one of their kitchen knives with a knife sharpener like this."

"You are blind to the damage happening to your knives.
A plastic shroud coupled with motorized abrasives is extremely dangerous to your knives. When you place your knife into an electric knife sharpener, you simply cannot see how much material is being removed and if it is causing damage to the blade, cosmetic or otherwise."

Let me know if I saved you $20 Smilie
I'm so glad you seem proud of your irrelevant analogy. Give me a honing rod and a whetstone and I guarantee my knives are sharper and better maintained then this electric sharpener. My comment was an example of how an electric sharpener can be a terrible idea. Think before you make yourself look like an idiot for nonsensical comments.

Bought mine in 2012 for $30. Looks like they updated the black sections with glossy hard plastic. The black sections use to be a rubbery material which was impossible to clean. Still works great. Sharpen every week.

If you have to "sharpen" your knives every week, then it is clearly NOT working well. Generally, knives should only need sharpening 2-3 times per year.

Same here, love it as well. Need to actually sharpen my knifes sometime soon. I sharpen about once a year.
Amazon says I paid $29.97 for it in 2009.

If anyone is in DIY, sandpaper works pretty good for the sharping knife. Cheapest solution and easy to store.
