I just did an system update on my Sprint prepaid Moto E which is on a Freedompop BYOD free plan. The update is presumably from Sprint to "fix roaming issues". After the upgrade the phone can no longer register with Freedompop, and a message says the SIM has been locked. Updating profile/PRL or performing carrier reset does not help. At this time I'm not sure if this is a glitch specific to this phone or it is Sprint deliberately trying to lock out non-FED cleared phones coming up to 4/17, and if that's the case, whether this would also happen to Boost/Virgin prepaid phones or on ringplus network. I would suggest everyone be very cautious about any OTA updates in the coming days.
