SuperNova 3G/4G LTE Hotspot?
Does it transfer data via gamma rays?

The 1GB is free every month and you're complaining?

I assume this is on Sprint's network. That plus this being a used device makes it an unimpressive deal.

In practice, the you really only get about 400 MB/month for free, not 1 GB. Freedom Pop blocks the last 200 MB unless you have "auto-top up" to pay for a possible data overage.

Further, Freedom Pop very aggressively rounds up any data usage (both free and paid) so that you really only get about half of what you pay for. FWIW, I base this on my own metered usage over a recent 3 month period.

On this plan, you get 1GB, not 500MB for the first year. without top-up, its 900MB.

Also, Data Usage may be delayed around 3 hours, but my data usage statistics are pretty accurate to what my phone says I have used.

I have no experience with the phone plans, only with the two of the hotspot devices. On each of the hotspot devices, Freedom Pop consistently hit me for double the data expenditure that either device had recorded. I went so far as to examine the details of the usage on the Freedom Pop website on a daily basis. The data overcharges were consistently twice that recorded by the device.

And as for the math, as you stated, FP cuts you off when it registers 100MB remaining. My assertion is that with the hotspots, you only get half of the data that Freedom Pop claims. Half of the 900 MB available is 450 MB, so I am off by 50MB. Sorry about that.

I paid for data beyond the free plan and still only got, according to my hotspot devices, half the data usage that Freedom Pop claimed I used. Maybe my hotspots did not record data usage correctly, or maybe Freedom Pop is really aggressive on rounding up the data usage. As for me, I trust the 3rd party devices.

Congratulations with your success with the Freedom Pop phone plan. Please try the hotspot for yourself and let us know how you do.

I have 3 FP hotspots and they have built in meters of their own. The meters don't pull from any central source like Sprint or FP, it's just counting itself much like our iPhones and Android phones. It's always within 95% of the actual billed usage by FP. Only downside is I have to remember to reset the meter when the billing period rolls around.

I have the Netgear Mingle, Zing, and Novatel MiFi LTE tri-band.

With that said, I would not pay $99 for this. Wait for a sale in the $30 area.

Do you prefer the Mingle or the Zing?

I would probably say the Mingle because of its smaller size and weight. Yeah the Zing has a touchscreen but you dont need it once you've set up the device once.

Similar items are routinely offered for $30 of less. Bad price.

The only value added is the 1GB trial for a year. So, with freedompop friends it should net you 1400MB a month for a year, then decline to 900MB a month. 100MB/month is lost to prevent $15 overage billing.
