How do i activate google voicemail on Ringplus?

i have a ringplus phone.
I ported my home # to google voice (paid $20).

I forwarded my gv # to my Ringplus #.
now I'm trying to activate google voicemail.

gv says type in *28xxxxxxxxxx on my Ringplus cell and press send, where xxxx= gv #.
but when I do that, it says *28 feature code is not valid.

HELP!
thx

Call forwarding doesn't work on all carriers, especially mvno's.

But based on this [sprint.com] I'd try *73 and *74 instead.

Since you ported your number into gv, this forwarding will only effect calls made directly to your ring plus number. It might not be worth worrying about.

You are trying to use Google Voice as the main contact number. Then someone call your GV# after 5 rings and no one pick up the phone, then GV-mail will pick up the phone. To do this extend R+ VM pick up to 59 seconds or disable R+ VM function.

OR: If You want someone call your R+ number directly, and you do not pick up the phone, and you want the GV-mail answer the call, sorry this function is not supported (conditional call forwarding). Call forwarding is the limited function that MVNO cannot deal with the big carriers. You may find some that support such as Cricket (full support), straight talk (conditional only).

FYI.
