I own this router. The feature set is excellent. It has 3 radios which enable you to do load balancing between your wireless devices. The Smart Connect feature is very iffy, for some people it works fine for others it does not. It is totally dependent on your wireless clients. I have a 3600 square foot ranch on 5 acres and I can get a signal within the house and on the entire 5 acres.

I use the VPN feature when I am traveling - I get a secure connection when I an using wireless from a remote location. I use the Parental Controls to stop any porn to my kids computers and I use the scheduler to limit Xbox time. I use the basic form of QOS by limiting bandwidth to each client.

You will see where this router got knocked heavily when it first came out for buggy firmware. The complaints were justified, now the firmware is stable. Also Asus updates there firmware frequently.

At $179 this router is a bargain, it was not worth the original $329 as SmartConnect does not work for a lot of people.

I would get it but I'm looking for one with 10 antennas.
On a serious note how well does this penetrate walls?

LOL..well my setup will have 24 antennas now .. SERIOUSLY! LMAO

This will be my second AC3200, just picked it up due to the price point. I love the first one .. and it has 12 antennas! Stick Out Tongue The original 6, but I made a little modification. I bought 6 "T's" connects with extra 9 db antennas which I run on extension cables. So the original 6 sit right on the box and the other 6 are spidered out an extra 12'-20' in every direction, with exception of one that is 30' out to a special outdoor "N" bi-directional antenna.

Now I just have to upgrade my 2400 baud modem! EEK! LMAO

This is a very nice router at this price point. I think I paid around $230 for the first one.

This will not filter 4G traffic through your cell phone. Most wireless service providers such as Verizon offer content blocking service.

While this will not eliminate porn I do limit the amount of data to each phone so if my kids start watching videos they will run out of data very quick.

Example for Verizon -

Even with so many antennas, majority of the negative reviews are because of bad wifi connection. I'll skip and use a more reliable Asus like RT-AC68, sure it doesn't have enough antennas, but it's been proven year after year as being one of the best & most reliable routers. Having option of turning one of the LAN ports to 2nd WAN as Dual WAN configuration makes it even better compared to Netgear. (Netgear overall gets better reviews, but I need dual WAN).
