So, what would be best for watching videos in the car this or Kindle Fire 7" for $50?

Looking for something I can mount behind the head rest for my < 2 year old to watch a movie for LONG drives. Ideally a tablet that will last a few years.

I have a micro SD I would be throwing in, so memory isn't really that big of a deal for me.

I would say this is better, I run into problems w the 8 GB on the $50 kindle all the time (even though I have everything that can go onto an SD card going there). the screen on the $50 is OK for movies but I can't read on it. the only bonus's for the kindle is if you have prime maybe. I had an earlier model I think of this Acer and it went forever.

I was just looking at a refurbished version of this tablet on eBay today for about the same price, so this is a pretty nice deal. Does anyone know if this is any good for Skype/video calls? I'm trying to find a decent tablet to send to my dad as soon as possible, so I'm not too worried about HD quality or anything, just something that works well enough for that purpose.

If you or anyone else would rather get the full HD, 2GB model refurbished, Expansys has it for $74.99 + $5 shipping. [expansys-usa.com] Saw this a while ago but decided against posting it because these Acer tablets get zero update support and are stuck on KitKat without modifying them and flashing ROMs.

It's also running a slightly faster Intel Z3745 processor. Link to Amazon reviews. [amazon.com]

Same model [amazon.com] beyond a few digits at the end of the model number. Acer likes doing this for some reason and it makes things confusing as hell.

I bought one for my daughter a while back, it doesn't retain WiFi credentials so I have to reenter tho every time I restarts. Can't recall if it has SD card support, I will have to check
