There is a lot of negativity when these deals are posted, but I appreciate it when people post them. I know that you have to pay shipping but these books are well worth the $8-$9 I pay for them with these codes. I got this email too, thanks OP!

The negativity comes from the fact that most Shutterfly "FREE" deals posted here on SD forget to put the shipped price in the title, Over and over we ask for the true shipped price.

So my question is why does the OP not want to take the time to post the true price ?

A lot of the negativity comes from people who just flat out don't like these deals (whether or not the OP puts ship costs). I have seen it all of the time in threads for these types of deals. It is the fact that they have to pay anything. I think people who don't like these Shutterfly deals should just ignore them then.

I understand that you, personally, are looking for the ship cost to be put in the title; I have seen you post that a lot. I am not that poster so I don't know why they (and others) don't.

The one time I posted a deal like this, I put it cost ship & taxes in the title. I looked up every item individually and put the ship cost for each item in the thread. It still got a lot of thumbs down b/c of people saying it was a scam, you shouldn't have to pay for shipping at all, etc. So, like I wrote, there are a lot of people that thumb these down b/c they don't like the nature of it at all.

I do though and offer support to people that post them b/c I want to keep seeing these codes posted. I use them and think the products I get for the cost I pay are well worth it Smilie

Speaking of which, does anyone know how the quality is at Costco compared to Shutterfly? I saw them having a sale going on right now. I would gladly pay more for better quality prints. I wasn't impressed with Shutterfly.

I didn't know or look up the shipping costs at the time I posted. Ok. Point taken. I've looked it up & updated the original post. It's $7.99 for Economy Shipping [shutterfly.com].

Thank you OP I really appreciate it.

There just no way to know if a "Free" item is a good deal until you know the shipped price.

Costco quality is better than Shutterfly but it's not as cheap as $7.99

There really is no such thing as "Free" at Shutterfly unless you happen to be spending on a bunch of photos or stuff anyway. If not in the market to do that, then it is best to just ignore them imo. Their "free" magnets, photo books, calendars, cards or whatever trinket they are peddling with huge shipping costs are usually not worth worrying about imo. My 2 cents.

No, we don't like them because they try to charge an outrageous amount of shipping, to cover the cost of the actual book, making it everything but truly free! $2-3 is fair for how much they actually pay for shipping, $8 they're making a profit out of such "free" deals!

I was answering a poster who was saying people thumb these deals down b/c the OP doesn't put the ship cost in the title. Your answer pretty much proved my point. You don't like the deal; It is not b/c the OP didn't put the ship price in the title.

And to your other point...Shutterfly is a business. It is pretty obvious to me that they are trying to make a profit. Free + ship deals are a marketing tool that many, many businesses have employed at one time or another. I am not expecting the book for free. I pay $8 to get the book and think they are worth that for sure. The OP put that you have to pay shipping.

Initial complaint was there there's no mention of shipping, so people clicked open it thinking it's completely free and then found out that it was not, so they got disappointed and thumb down - it's their right and their choice. Just like the deals that says "free xGB dropbox space" and then when you open it, it's a referral link. Enough thumb down makes sure no others waste their time to open that thread.
