I was at Home Depot recently shopping for an Andersen / EMCO storm door. The salesperson looked ahead and found that there is a special coming on 4-21 until 4-27. If you buy during this time period, installation will be $49. Normally, installation from Home Depot is $129.

I know this isn't a huge "deal" but I hope it helps somebody in the market for a storm door. It definitely helped me.

Edit: 4-21-16
I uploaded a photo of the sign for $49 install. I went to my local Home Depot today and confirmed it.

Savings stack: In some States (i.e. Illinois) there is no sales tax charged on a service. They can roll the cost of the door into the installation. Have done this with other purchases.

I suggest a security storm door if you live in the more tropical climates. Some of the options available may surprise.

I know Home Depot will match Lowe's, but any idea if Lowe's will match Home Depot? Already special ordered a door that will be in this week, but if we can save hubby's Saturday for $49, we will do it! Thanks!

HD currently has a promotion running for some exterior doors, including an Andersen door that we're looking at. It ends on 4/21. Does anyone know or have a guess if they would honor both the sale promotion and the install promotion if I purchased on 4/21?

I'm not sure but last time I checked, EMCO / Andersen (same company) was only sold at Home Depot.

Home Depot has somewhat hidden charges with their storm door installs not included in the $49 (at least in the Southeastern region)

$35 Measure fee - not credited to the install price
$35 - $85 condo fee - for any work done above the ground floor
$15 - Haul away fee - If you want installer to haul away old storm/screen door
Plus labor if trim work is needed around $50

These new Andersen storm doors are a breeze to put up though. I put one up in an hour. They're not like the old storm doors that have 100 pieces.

The only surprising thing there is the haul away charge.

If you have an existing storm door where the new one is to be located, just throw a tape measure on it. Chances are it is a standard 36 or 32 inches wide (figure out which one, the door itself might be slightly smaller than 36 or 32). The height is where problems arise. The door should be somewhere between 79 3/4 and 81...

If there isn't a storm door there now, it gets a little trickier. The biggest problem other than strange heights is when a door has side-lights (a narrow panel with a window on one or both sides of the door frame) ... Usually a door with side-lights that has never had a storm door on it doesn't have the correct build-out for a storm door on the frame mulls. That would require a build out and additional material charge, and then you might have to pick up a paint brush to paint the added wood.

as far as the haul-away charge goes, most curbside garbage services will take a storm door.

Well, I'll tell them they can either match or I'll return and head to Home Depot. Worth a shot anyway, on doors of comparable price, style, and quality.
