Amazon has a gift card deal where if you buy $75 or more in ONE single transaction when you check out they tell you that you will get $15 added to your Amazon account.
IF you do not see that add code: 0416GCARDS to the promotions box.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Thank you ETP for further investigating this Amazon coupon code. It has been discovered by ETP that this code is a TARGETED coupon code. I never received any notification that I was eligible for this so I would still suggest that you try it. You may get lucky.
I apologize to the ones that did not get it after trying to but I had no knowledge of this being targeted until now.

When you do they will tell you that the $15 will be added within 3 days of the card being shipped.
IF THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE NOT USED THIS DEAL BEFORE AND ALSO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ENTERED THE CODE CORRECTLY.
I am sorry if it does not work for you. It should. I was only trying to help my fellow SD'rs.

I got my egift card within 5 minutes.[/SIZE]

The $15 credit noted above did not work for me

FYI - Echo is the same price at Home Depot. Military and veterans get an additional 15% off. http://slickdeals.net/f/8679811-amazon-echo-153-at-home-depot?p=84042647&utm_source=dealalerts&utm_medium=em-i&utm_term=49942&utm_content=u178797&utm_campaign=tu-9999&src=da_17304663

Yeah, it is kind of odd. Guess they're doing it at 15% off.

Not a great price but better than $179 if you were planning to buy one.

My main use is for home automation purposes. Great for that. Very well done setup and integration.

Other than the fact that you have to TAP the Tap to voice activate, is there much of a difference? I'm trying to decide if it is really worth the extra money for the Echo.

If you do not need a powerful speaker built in, go for the dot. Most people don't realize the the dot has a built in speaker. It is no where near as loud as the othe echoes, but it is plenty acceptable if you are just asking questions or listening to the news briefings. I use one as an alarm clock. When I get up I can ask about the traffic, weather, and news all without needed an additional speaker.

Thank you for your response. The more I thought about it with my husband being legally blind I think the Echo is best for us. Smilie
