Something does not look correct on the price of the Netgear R7800 Nighthawk X4S AC2600 Smart MU-MIMO Gigabit Wireless Router. I think it should be $239.99 AR.

Indeed. It would be interesting to know how many people are buying these high-end whizbang AC routers, thinking that it will make their internet screaming fast, yet only have G and N devices connecting to them. EEK!

Well on the other hand... I brought a high end router to manage my own DLAN server and I liked the idea of gigabyte switches. Wink

Some people buy it for the range, routers under $100 just doesn't have the range for a 3300 sq feet single story house. But yeah, it is more bang for the buck if you can use all the features and capabilities of a $200 router.

The reviews on Amazon and Newegg for the Asus RT-AC55U AC1200 are mixed. Many claim needing to reset the router frequently. Hesitating to buy one. Anyone owns one to share the experience with this router?

If you have a student account it looks like the 5 port switch is decent for a managed switch.
using coupon takes $15 off
$13.99 before rebate - 5 = $8.99

Pretty much all Asus routers needs be reset frequently. Haven't had one yet that doesn't pop up with some sort of weird connectivity issues that aren't fixed with a reset. HOWEVER the thing idiots on Amazon don't try (and only complain about) is that the interface has a "reset timer function".....seriously. I have both my RT-AC3200's set to reset every day at 3am. It was a few checkboxes and a number to type and that was it...problem solved.

You should not have to reset your router everyday. My Original Linksys WR54GL never had to be reset nor the TP-link WDR3600. If a router warrants reset frequently, then there is an issue. I had this problem with one of the TP-link N300 routers and I promptly sent it back.

I have 3 different active Asus routers and I never have to reset them...ever....it has been like that for years.

It may not be a performance improvement that is proportionate to the cost but it can help in many ways, especially with the bandwidth at long range.
