As a heads up for those interested in using this coupon, it looks like it generates a new barcode every time (single use coupons). No big deal, but you may have to save a few of them if you plan to use multiple.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

The one made with unicorn oil. No paint I've ever used gave quality results with only one coat, especially when changing colors.

As a former employee, can confirm that the $10 off $50 or the $15 off $75 work with this sale, this is off subtotal, so one gallon usually doesn't cut it. This works because during the sale all the prices in the system are updated to reflect the sale, becoming the retail prices. Depending on the person working, you can split the transaction and use it multiple times. Managers hate it but when it wasn't busy and was on my own I did it, I realize the stuff ain't cheap. If they don't let you then do multiple trips. They are always trying to push emerald, you can usually convince them to split the order if you are willing to upgrade to the premium product.
Also there is a barcode the employees can scan that effectively extends the sale by five days, so we were usually able to give 40% through the following Saturday. We usually reserved this for people who bought during the sale and ran short. Unfortunately this way you can't stack with a coupon as the system allows only one discount barcode
As for the sample quarts, that is garbage paint, it's just to give you an idea of what the color looks like. There are no binding agents in it so if you leave it up for a while it will dry up and peel off.
I'm an employee for SW, and sorry to say you've been misinformed. Those "tester pints" are actually not paint at all. First off it's quart sized. And secondly, those have no paint properties whatsoever. And it's definitely not a flat finish but rather a satin sheen. It says so on the label. If you wanted touch up for tiny spots sure why not. But anything bigger than the palm of your hand you'll notice a difference in color.

I use Behr 1 coat paint and it works fine. I just bought a 5 gallon for $189 if you want to compare pricing.

I had good luck with Emerald and Cashmere. Both are very thick and have a nice finish. I used the Emerald when I was trying to pain over wallpaper that was removed to get my other house on the market. It was just 1 coat and took care of the inconsistencies.

Bring a picture of what you're trying to paint to the store - they usually have good employees who will help you get the right paint for the job. It's sometimes not the most expensive choice Smilie.

Yep, Emerald is thick stuff, and expensive. The guy at my local shop told me that their $5 Tester Pints are actually Emerald Flat, so for small jobs with that finish to just buy testers.

Thank you! I didn't know that. I've not run into a situation where I needed something barely over a gallon (or just a really small area), but it's nice to know the testers are an option if using Emerald. That would really help in case of touch ups, too!

The fine print seems to suggest no. The wording I think is "40% off retail price only". That's not to say you couldn't try it and maybe get lucky???

Kind of depends on surface/texture and durability you are looking for.

For bedrooms with wall textures that don't have a lot of deep crevices, 1 layer of paint with a followup walk-though and touch up is sufficient for me. I always do primer first though, otherwise color will never be quite right.

For an exterior fence it's getting primer+2 layers regardless of brand.

I have tried Superpaint, Ovation, and Duration. I still like Superpaint the best. It has the best coverage and applies really well. The other 2 are very thick and dont go as far but I dont notice any added durability as a result.
