Got an email with an ad for either the Kyocera Hydro Icon, Galaxy SIII, and iPhone 5 from FreedomPop today. Prices seem good, and you can cancel FreedomPop's service if you just want the phone. If you keep the service make sure to cancel any add-ons that you don't want so you aren't charged after the trial period.

Another offer has the iPhone 5 for $120 -- $99 + a mandatory month of their unlimited talk plan. https://www.freedompop.com/offer/iphone5-100v

And this one has the Galaxy Note II for $90: http://www.freedompop.com/offer/L...le/devices

Spoke to an Indian freedompop rep in the afternoon, dude said they only release the esn after 6 months. I'll try again later.
I am the FreedomPop Rep - Here's from our updated FAQ:

Why doesn't this phone work on other Carriers?
We do our very best to provide the slickdeals community with the best deal in mobile as possible. This includes subsidizing the price of the phone to customers. Because of this, we have started a new policy. Read more here - https://support.freedompop.com/ap.../a_id/2139

These phones cannot be used with Ringplus without being active on FP for 6 Months minimum

some had reported FP refurb phones are working fine with R+ after 4/17
but some are having some issues when trying to activate them.

supposedly, these phones were old enough from sprint and should meet with FED requirements already

tempted to pick up another S3, grabbed 2 from woot activated them on R+, but that was pre-FED, need to be sure they would still activate
also, be sure to disable the FP apps or it will not activate completely on R+

I was under the impression once a phone hits the official "refurbished" state it lost any FED requirements and age of the device played less of a factor.

unless the refurbed unit had actual battery issues, you will most likely be getting the original battery.

Thanks, but looks weird getting answers from a guy with a Ringplus avatar in a FP thread.

They said somewhere that all pre-Dec 2014 phones were exempt from the FED req.
Which all these phones are.

I'm hoping that FP's experiement with global GSM sims will eventually lead to a domestic GSM service. It would be nice if they offered the option of using either GSM or CDMA phones like Ting does.

I think they're mostly refurb. They have a 30-day return policy if there are any problems with the phone though. I've never gotten an iphone from them, but other phones looked basically new.
