I was browsing the outdoor section of Wal-Mart and came across a Weber Performer Premium Charcoal Grill on clearance for $250, down from $300. As I was standing there a worker came along and marked it down to $150. There were 5 there and I took one.

Here is a link to the new version, and you can see it's $350:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Weber-P...k/39603226

I can't even bring up the old version on the website for a direct comparison. Pictures are of receipt, new version picture and a picture of 2 on the shelf. 2 of the 5 said they were "gold", not Premium. I can't find any info on the "gold" line, but it may have been Wal-Mart only option. Both looked the same and had the same original price and same mark down price.

This is very YMMV as I've seen other recent Wal-Mart clearance posts with the same type of scenario.

I don't recall ever seeing them either. The new ones don't show up in stock and I couldn't find it on Brickseek.com. The UPC is 7792403253.

YES! That was the 2 out 5 model, and it does show up on Brickseek with the discounted price, albeit, shows now stock and as of an hour ago there were 2, so I wouldn't trust that stock and go to the store, or call.

I pull the manual out and it has model number 57865, which is what brings up their premium line. The sticker has 51839 Rev B. Either way, I don't see any difference in the new model, although I'm sure there is one, but they're now $350 everywhere. Happy hunting.

It's a model made specifically for Walmart, no doubt. usually cheaper hardware, thinner metal etc.

When buying something second hand, I'm never afraid to tell the person that I'm not interested because the model is from Walmart ans is usually manufactured specifically for them.

I was thinking that about the Gold, but not the Premium label which is why I got that one.

Great deal if you can get it. Brickseek is showing it as $154 in KCMO, but not in stock, if you trust the stock checker.

I've been eyeing this forever, thank you OP! Going to check out the local Wal-Mart during my lunch hour. Quick question for clarification, are you saying the boxes with the Gold stickers would be the Wal-Mart version of the product, and buy the one without the sticker to get the "authentic" one?

I've owned the Performer for 7 years now and it is great. However I would recommend the 'Deluxe' over the 'Premium" model if only for the gas starter. I find it so much more convenient to light than using lighter fluid or a chimney.

Of course, that being said, I do have a chimney in case I run out of the propane starter tanks Stick Out Tongue
