Deal alert disabled

apillowofclouds 213 93 April 19, 2016 at 12:54 PM
I have had a deal alert for years alerting me to any thread >= 3 thumbs on hot deals.... got disabled, I assume by the system because I didn't disabled it, 2 days ago and now I can't make an alert with no keyword and the exclude doesn't work (-dontcare)

What's up? Kind of frustrating realizing I missed 2 days worth of deals...

I am told that if you have a typo or something wrong in the DA wording, or something completely blank and then just a -laptop ( like all DAs except laptops), or if you spammed one of our emails for that particular DA... any of those things could cause an issue. The first 2 would cause it to go away immediately, the 3rd would be after you spammed the email.

The DA that I had didn't have any keywords, it sent me any deal that reached 3 thumbs, which is exactly what I want. I've gotten in on many great deals for things I would not necessarily have been searching for. Now i don't seem to be getting any alerts - I currently made a new DA with the keyword search "posted" which returns 2k or so threads but s far it has not emailed me anything. Just seems like the whole thing broke.

What I get when I try to enable the old alert is this

You may not use this notification type: Notification

But I don't get that message if I create a new alert, it just does't send me anything. I looked and it was actually last Thursday at 9 pm EST that I got my last alert.

I also get "You may not use this notification type: Notification" when I try to re-enable it.

I got my last deal alert last Thursday at 6:55 PM Pacific time, which would be 9:55 PM for you. It was a double announcement, one for a UHD LED Monitor and another for a Bluetooth Speaker.

We can assume the problem is a system problem. There are probably others too, they probably have just not noticed.

I sure can't think of anything I have done to cause the problem.

I have done nothing with my Deal Alerts for many months. For more than a week before my deal alert became disabled and the 6 days since then, I have done nothing except reply to threads.

I have not gotten any deal alerts for the last 2 days. What is going on anyway? I haven't added or deleted any alerts now suddenly I get nothing.

Are you sure you did receive deal alerts last Friday until about two days ago?

I have a "rule" for my message client to put all deal alerts in a separate folder so it is easier for me to check that.

yes that's what I do too. last message was on the 19th at 9:05am

edit: it started working now. I deleted all the emails in the folder and restarted the email program.

It is good that it is working for you but I sure don't understand how your email client can affect the SlickDeals.net system. I still have not gotten any Deal Alerts.

Would the problem affect the pop up alerts when you log into the site? That is the issue that I am having.

It would be all of your deal alerts if they are affected.

Hopefully the fix will be out very soon, again, my apologies.

I got one and only one deal alert so far today. It is about an EVGA 600W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply.

I just noticed that I haven't received any deal alert since around 2:00pm 4/20 Pacific Time. Problem exactly as described by both posters above, and I can't renew or re-enable those massively disabled alerts (by system, not by me) due to the same error message above. As I checked through each deal alert's settings, the "Notification" button is already grayed out by system and there's no way for me to "un-gray" it in an effort to re-enable then re-disable these botched DAs just to make them work again.

Please fix it. Thanks.
