I would hold off on spending anything over $250 on consoles right now. With news of PS4 NEO (PS4.5) you can bet Microsoft will buff up an Xbone slim and there are talks of exclusive next gen 2.0 exclusive games due to the step up in GPUs on the units.

You have to be kidding me.
The games don't drop in price and will still work on whatever revision Microsoft comes out with. There's easily $120 value in gaming there between dark souls 3, r6, ori and rare replay... Meaning you're virtually paying $250 or less for the 1tb console.

This is an excellent deal

You can obviously do what you want, and I'm not telling you otherwise, but in the grand console scheme of things, you always want the option to play everything. This is about the time someone would say "PC Master Race" which is relevant, but I still would hold my chips and see how this hand deals out down the road. M$ made a lot of promises at E3 that they haven't been able to make good on yet with their current tech. I imagine this is how we'll see it fully manifest.

Sony had already told developers future games have to work on both console versions. You can expect Microsoft to do the same. If you have to have the best, wait a month or so for E3 and your questions will be answered.

There is absolutely ZERO chance that either company will alienate current owners with games that will only work on the next console versions, nor any company dumb enough to limit their selling power to such a small market...not even EA could be that stupid. shake head

The 1TB version of the console's base price is basically $350 now, including bundles like this Gears/Rare/Ori bundle. So you're getting the brand new (approx $60 value) Dark Souls 3 and the fairly old Rainbow 6 Siege (value of $30-40) new. The 3 bundled in titles have all each been available for $10 recently. So this is a decent deal if you want DS3, but if not it may not be all that great.

I guess Microsoft grossly overestimated how many holiday bundles they would sell. Or if they're still producing these, maybe a new name...

Yeah it's likely that Sony and Microsoft will release updated, more powerful consoles soon - they released ones that struggle to maintain 1080p 60fps when UHD has become affordable - but there will be zero exclusive games for the upgraded version that will not work on current consoles.

I wouldn't expect to see those consoles until later this year however

Completely wrong information to just dish out to people. There are many reliable sources around the subject matter that has proven there will be NO exclusive games to the "Neo" only better versions of the games that will be coming out. A lot like the Expansion Pack of the Nintendo 64. It will more or less and "Elite" version of the PS4. IE: If the game can run in 4k the new "Neo" will run it in 4k, where as the SAME game will be playable in 1080p on a normal PS4.
