This phone will not work on RingPlus

Why doesn’t this phone work on Ring Plus or other Carriers?

We do our very best to provide the slickdeals community with the best deal in mobile as possible. This includes subsidizing the price of the phone to customers. Because of this, we have started a new policy. Read more here - https://support.freedompop.com/ap.../a_id/2139

What happens to that $20?
The $20 Account Credit gets applied to your account and will remain there indefinitely. If you ever exceed your data limit, then the extra data cost will be deducted from your Credit at the rate of $0.02 per MB.

What happens when my Top-Up Credit balance gets low?
FreedomPop ensures you'll never be left without Internet access should you exceed your monthly plan capacity. This plan requires an initial top up of $20 and a minimum balance over $2.00 to protect ourselves from fraud and leakage. Your account will automatically be topped up for $15.00 when your balance dips below.

Can I turn off Automatic Top-Up?
You will not be able to disable the Automatic Top-Up feature.

Can I keep my current phone number?

Yes, you can Port your existing phone number over to FreedomPop for a one-time charge of $9.99.

What’s Premium Plus and Premium Voice?
Visual voicemail
Usage alerts
Data rollover
MMS
Premium Voice - Make outbound calls over Sprint’s Voice Network when data network is too slow.

Can I add this to an existing account?

Yes!

How do I get even more free data every month?

You can connect with other FreedomPop users through Freedom Friends (found on your account page) and earn up to an extra 500MB of extra data, every month for free! Check out this thread- http://slickdeals.net/f/5276432-freedompop-friends

Interesting. Kinda like their $20 BYOD 2 GB deal recently. I wonder if you could get this and then swap in a BYOD phone -- I've heard of them doing that, but I've never tried it myself. (Basically you activate a BYOD device on the 500 MB free plan, and then FP swaps the devices in their system, as I understand it. You might even get a refund/credit on the $20 BYOD fee.)

Looks like a good deal to me, but it seems like they're having trouble processing payments.

I tried a Visa card and an AMEX, and both say "Payment failed. Please try another card."

Nice deal, too bad it's locked to the Hydro. FP needs to make switching phones easier if they want long term customers. Premium Plus lets you use regular voice rather than VOIP, so for $8 a month you can get unlimited talk and text plus 2GB of data that should be on par with other Sprint MVNOs.

Though for both FP and R+ it would be nice if they had GSM network options so people had a full range of phones to choose from. That's a big advantage for Ting even if you have to pay.

You should be able to, I've been able to add the 500 for friends to all their other deals.

Almost as good as the LG Volt. Slightly smaller screen and smaller battery. Still a good phone. I wonder if there's still any Volts to be had out there.
Pretty good deal for 2GB a month. I guess FP is trying to complete with RP.

Tried again from a different IP address and it worked. Thanks for posting this deal!
