Anyone own a set of these or have heard them in person? Blew out the drivers on my Pioneer FS-51's and I'm wondering if anyone has heard both sets and how they compare.

any idea what the warranty is like on factory recerts? I've been looking at getting a pair of these, but they go on sale for $109 new pretty regularly. Not sure it's worth saving $20

I know what you mean. Only saving grace is that it's coming from Harman directly. Should be okay.

Frys is selling the ES80 from time to time at almost the same price. I have these as fronts and an EC35 as center in my small room.

Is there a big difference between the two?

$97 at Fry's. I bought a pair. I'd recommend picking them up in person and checking them for damage before you haul them home. The packaging only provides reinforced protection at the very top and bottom of the box. The middle squishes in and both the floor displays and the two (the last two or I'd have returned them) I bought had dings on at least one corner halfway up. They sounded better than the Polks that are regularly on sale for $95-125 at Frys, and miles ahead of the cheap crap that came with my receiver.

Very sorry here folks, but had to TD this one (seriously hated to), but this is not a good deal on the ES80's. I have 3 sets (6 total speakers) of the ES80's i bought NEW from Frys and Amazon over the holidays. And got them at $99 each. I think Fry's just had them on sale for $99 each very recently as well.

They are very nice speakers at this price range. They compare with the sound quality of the Infinity 363 models, BUT I like the ES80's because you have TWO port sets to split the bottom ends (4 connects on back, not just two).

Given they are 6", I do recommend a sub, but they sound good without as well.

Keep a lookout for the ES90's in recertifieds. I missed it last year, those were $99 and have the 8" in those.

Again, sorry to have to TD this one, but $99 for recerts is NOT a good deal here.

Which do you like better, Infinity 363 or these?

I tried both, side by side. BOTH have great sound in this low price range. The Infinity's are NICE speakers at this price point.

But I went with the JBL ES80's due to one main different feature. The ES80's have 4 ports on back, not two like the infinity's. This allows you to separate the low end woofers. Since I do 90% music, that is a nice plus for my use.

Again, the Infinity's are a GOOD speaker at this price point, and both with very nice sound. I simply like the extra feature on the ES80. Plus, I think the Infinity's are 3-ways and the ES80's are 4-ways. Not a big difference, but when playing mostly music, it is a small factor.

Hope this helps. Smilie

I have the ES80's out in the garage/mancave. I bought the pair new a couple years ago from JBL for $110 each shipped. I added the JBL ES25C center and two Dayton Audio 120W 12" subs using a Denon AVR-E400 receiver and a home built HTPC. It sounds pretty darn good for a entry level system and I find myself using it more than my more expensive Pioneer system that's in the house (I probably spend more time out in the garage to be honest).

ETA: I'm using a pair of Sony B-3000 as surrounds (overkill takes up to much space)
