Note: Next generation of Receivers are coming soon. May be worth the wait for proper Atmos support.

This is FP material. What about Onkyo warranty though ?

Good stuff, but I also just had to send in my TX-NR808 for the (in-)famous HDMI-Board Failure...

Are we sure these aren't refurbs since they're coming from Woot?

Watch the 747 guys, "Item Weight - 2,403 pounds" ... Have a buddy with a forklift help you set it up.

Edit: Also looks like they are still working on the DTS:X firmware
"when is the dts-x firmware expected?

Answer:

We are currently working on the DTS:X firmware update and will advise you when it becomes available. If you would like me to advise you when it is released please feel free to email me at askOnkyo@us.onkyo.com, Thanks, JT

So tempting since I've been contemplating a new receiver for a few years. The only thing deterring me from pulling the trigger are two Onkyo's that died on me Frown

Neither one quite work for me (need some higher quality 4K video upscaling) but if these are brand new with full warranty(nothing indicates otherwise) - definitely an FP deal.

I'm looking to buy my first receiver. I want to set up a home theater system for tv and movies (don't really care about music). With that being the case, which of these would you suggest? Or are they overkill for my needs (I also don't see myself spending thousands on speakers - I'm coming from a soundbar so it doesn't take much to impress me)?

I got the previous model 737 in Aug and it has been great. Can't beat it for $200. Only problem I have is when I turn on my Fire TV it changes my hdmi. I only have one hdmi plugged in, but it goes to a different one. Maybe is a sign that is going bad.

You can probably go cheaper than these like the 646 for $400 or less (Fry's had it for $300 last week). What's important to you? Atmos? Hdmi 2.0? 4k upscale (onkyo is not good at upscaling) ?

Yeah, the old ones were bad. These RZ units are different. and I think Onkyo has really put their HDMI board issues behind them. With that said, I actually recommend going with one of these four- Onkyo TX-RZ900, Yamaha A2050, Pioneer Elite SC-95, or the Denon X4200.
