Surface tablet around $1000

Cheddardips 35 22 April 21, 2016 at 07:21 AM
My wife wants to get a Surface tablet. What is the best option for around $1000. She will mostly use it for MS Office and internet.

I want something that will have a long life.
thanks

Well Surface is a specific model. It would be like saying My Wife want's a mustang and then later say asking what similar models are there.

Lots of other laptop/ultrabooks that convert into tablets around that have the added benefit of not having to buy a keyboard cover. How much office work is she doing and what type? She might want a real keyboard or a number pad for sure.

Really nice machines. I have a coworker with one and then I had a client that bought 2 that I setup this week. Just a note theirs shipped with bad wifi drivers out of the box so I had to update them first thing before the machine could get online reliabl

The Inspiron 2-1 is a nice system. If you want something that always has a keyboard but an optional tablet mode then this is a good choice.

If you are looking for a tablet with an optional keyboard, the Core M Dell Venue Pro 11's are nice Surface alternatives. Benchmarks a bit below the Surface Book, but runs about half the price.

Sadly, if your wife is set on a Surface, everything else will look like a cheap substitute. Surfaces are beautiful machines even though they are overpriced.

I would personally go for the Inspiron myself, but Costco currently has this for $999 - Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Bundle | Intel Core i7 | Office 365 Personal | Tempered Glass Screen Protector | Windows 10 [costco.com]
