Was looking for my Purple Rain CD when I got back from work and couldn't find it so checked out Amazon [amazon.com] and they had it for $5.00, however it was out of stock. Luckily they have the AutoRip feature so the MP3's were added into my library as soon as I completed the purchase and was able to listen right away. The MP3 format on Amazon and Google Play costs $9.49 so get to save a few bucks and get a physical copy. This version also has the full 8:42 version of Purple Rain as well. I have read a few complaints in there that the pressing has some skips or flaws so haven't listened to the full MP3 album.

It works with other albums too. I just ordered 1999 for $5.38 after tax and $1 digital credit for no rush shipping.

Followed Bowie and record companies cash in. Don't worry though, they will release new, unfound, unreleased material track by track for decades.

No "they" won't. Prince made a big deal about telling Warner Brothers to go eff themselves over the rights to his music. His estate will likely be under restrictions about how the countless recordings, songs, and material in his "vault" will be handled.

We may never hear or see any of it. Or he may have wanted to share it with the world after his passing. Time will tell.

He isn't getting the money for this album... Good marketing ploy for the rich record company owners to put it on sale and make more bank!

His estate will. Prince was very savvy about controlling the rights to his music and he'd rather kick St. Peter in the teeth than let record execs ever get their grubby hands on his music again. What that means now? We will have to wait and see.
