I guess "was", was the appropriate answer...

EDIT:
It was nothing to drool at though, who ever got it good for you...

Eh.. it was... a bad deal.

While it has a great video card / ram the hard drive was not solid state and at this price level I can't imagine buying one without.

And while this is a power house, that will drain the battery quickly and destroy the true purpose of a laptop, portability. And also the weight.

not bad. A little more than I want to spend today, though.

It's still workng, 999 - 129 from coupon brings it to 870, minus 100 rebate, 770.

EDIT: That said... an 8 gig + 4 gig memory? What's with the mismatch?

Gaming laptops are not about gaming while disconnected from power, they are about being able to take your gaming rig with you. No one should buy a gaming laptop expecting to be able to game on it for hours at a time without plugging it into a wall. As a frequent business traveler a gaming laptop means I can play games in hotels while on trips and not have to drag a full scale desktop rig with me everywhere.

Your first point however is spot on. Not that good of a deal without an SSD.

No SSD kills it.
