Generally, rewards are paid out in the month after they are earned.

Per the terms, rewards expire 60 days after issuance. In practice, rewards generally expire on the last day of the month two months after being issued. So for rewards issued in May, the rewards would expire July 31st.

Rewards are not like mail-in rebate. Rewards are triggered by having your Office Depot / OfficeMax Rewards membership number attached to the qualifying purchase.

So if I understand this correctly, I make this purchase with my OD/OM membership attached to said purchase, and then I'll be credited back to my account at some point? I've never taken advantage of this kind of deal at OD/OM....

Do these rewards roll onto dollar back paper deals?
And, do these battery rewards still has 1000 point minimum payout? I am confused at "rewards issued separately" or something like that.

1. No. You can't "roll" rewards. If you do, your earned rewards will be reduced by the amount of rewards you used for the purchase.

Many of us use our rewards to buy postage stamps, which hold their value extremely well (potential moneymaker if postage increases since they are 'forever' stamps), and buy reward items using cash/credit/etc. I consider my postage stamp hoard another 'investment' that can always be cashed out with minimal effort if necessary. Of course, to be profitable, you should be taking advantage of recycling rewards as well...

2. The past several battery deals produced actual certificates independent of the points. Previous offer was: Purchase 1 pack (or 2), get an actual separate rewards certificate for $13.98 (or 27.96). No need to worry about earning enough points to reach the next 1000 points. Of course, YMMV as OD/OM doesn't do a very good job explaining exactly which promotions earn points, and which earn actual separate reward certificates. The past deal was 0.01 after rewards, while this one is 100% back in rewards.

I'll be taking advantage of the offer...

EDIT: Do note that the terms of this new battery offer do NOT specify a separate reward certificate. The previous offer did include that language.

PAST OFFER:
Limit 2 offers per member.
Bonus Rewards on Duracell(R) Batteries: Valid in-store only from 3/27/16 - 4/2/16 or while supplies last, whichever occurs first. Limit 2 offers per member. This offer cannot be combined with other Bonus Reward offers on the same or similar products and services. Allow up to 5 weeks after the promotion ends for Rewards to become available in your account. These rewards will be issued as a separate reward certificate from your Program reward certificate.

NEW OFFER:

Limit 2 offers per member.
Bonus Rewards: 100% back in rewards on Duracell Batteries: Valid in-store only 4/24/16 - 4/30/16 while supplies last, whichever occurs first. Limit 2 offers per member. This offer cannot be combined with other Bonus Reward offers on the same or similar products and services.

Fortunately, we aren't near the end of a quarter, so even if it pays out 2,798 points, it should be relatively easy to earn the 202 additional points necessary to get a $30 reward. It may still produce a separate reward certificate - we just won't know for a few weeks when the rewards get issued.

I have a good feeling that this offer will be paid in POINTS - use your own judgement. If this assumption is correct, you will need to earn additional points, or you will forfeit the 798 remaining points at the end of the quarter.

If one 20% off coupon is used in the transaction, would I get the full amount of rewards back or just 80%? I remember I could get 100% back. Anyone can confirm it? Thank you!

Rewards are earned on the price paid for a qualifying item before tax and after deducting all discounts and the value of any Office Depot(R) OfficeMax(R) Rewards, or Office Depot Merchandise Cards/Certificates applied to purchase.
It should be 80

For example, if I already have $13.99 reward from earlier, and there's 30-($20 rewards)=9.99 paper deal. How will it come out if i choose to use it? Will I pay $16 and get $20 reward? Or it will be prorated and get $10.66 reward?
