Miss the days where the Rack was actually discounted not an actual Brand Store. Good Price but they should be $50

Yes but Nordstrom Rack shoes (which I believe are seconds) are not covered. Only seconds bought directly from AE are covered.

The comment about them being seconds surprised me a little as I figured Nordstrom Rack was either selling discontinued styles/colors or items return and deemed not fit to see at an actual Nordstrom store. However a quick google led me to this thread [styleforum.net] which supports the claim that they are seconds. Also the price of $209 matches the official AE outlet price (and they definitely sell seconds) so it doesn't surprise me.

With that said, I didn't even know AE had a warranty. I would think that for most issues, I would either return them because they're defective or get it repaired by an actual cobbler. For example, I had a Strands that I got from a full Nordstrom during their annual sale, and its heel cap peeled off within three or four months so I exchanged it. It happened again a year or so later so I had it repaied by a cobbler and it hasn't happened since. The cost to ship back to AE would probbaly be close to the price my cobbler charged for the same work.

I'm instead in them replacing the sole which I guess you could do locally when you count shipping...

They sell seconds. They even sell some styles that appear AE made just for them (not available on AE) site which I would question. You can tell if you are buying seconds or firsts by looking at the sole. All seconds are stamped with a mark usually on the leather right before the heel. It's kind of the shape of a shoe.

A little heads up about Nordstrom Rack. Over 80% of what they sell has never seen an actual Nordstrom store. The products sold were actually made to be sold at Nordstrom Rack. They utilize the brand names and highly inflate the prices to make you feel you are getting a deal. This is actually a common practice at many outlet stores. This sale is a prime example. That $200 is normal price and they are showing the $385 price which is typical of AE shoes. However, these shoes were never sold at that price anywhere and are a "Nordstrom exclusive" model. I am not knocking them, but just helping people be informed buyers. I'm actually going to Nordstrom Rack tomorrow to grab some dress socks and cedar shoe trees. They are a great place to buy inexpensive cedar shoe trees which help maintain the shoes shape, as well as remove odor and moisture.

True. This is similar at any other retailer in that category - Ross Dress for Less, TJMaxx/Marshalls/Home Goods, Tuesday Morning, etc. It doesn't mean the clothing is worse quality but it is usually not coming from a real store (also see the Saks, Neiman Marcus outlets here).

Normal outlets area joke and I find the quality far inferior (Banana Republic Outlet = GAP (or worse) quality, Gap Outlet = Old Navy quality, etc).

My seconds are not perfect and the imperfections are noticeable, but that varies. One is better than another and I have sent one back.

I bought it from Nordstrom.com during that $249 sale. Do I have to register my shoes on AE?
