Video Card Supporting 4 Monitors and Windows 10

Mrdapper5 38 10 April 23, 2016 at 07:56 AM
Can anyone recommend a video card that can support 4 monitors with Windows 10? I don't need it for anything extensive, not a gamer or anything. Just need it to handle multiple webpages, and basic use.

Don't need anything expensive, something reliable and cost effective that will work with Windows 10 is all I'm looking for.

Thanks!

To configure Windows 10 to accept 4 monitors check HERE [microsoft.com]

To actually buy a video card that supports 4 monitors you can check HERE [newegg.com]

BTW I performed a simple web search to find these results [bing.com].

I think that you probably could have done the same thing without posting your question here. Big Grin However thanks for giving me a chance to blather a little bit. worship

@theinfluencer Dell Inspiron, 8gb ram, i5 CPU

@dale_101798 I did google search and did not find much information, at least not any that was useful that is why I decided to make a thread here since I was pretty sure someone would know.

Thank you for providing those links however I have already read through most of those and did not find them very useful. My original question was can anyone "recommend" a good video card that supports 4 monitors with Windows 10. I do not need to figure out how-to install or configure any of this. I figured other people may have a similar set up already and could easily point out a decent card.

On many computers there's a bios / uefi setting to enable onboard graphics and a video card to work at the same time.

The reason I ask as if you have a display port and VGA then you have 2 right there. USB3 supports video so if you have 2 available then you could go to 4 at a minimal cost. 4 Port video cards aren't cheap.

USB 3.0 to HDMI.

@jkee @theinfluencer thank you guys, I will have to check them out! Yes, the 4 port cards are on the expensive side so these options may definitely be a better option.

Some cards with more outputs aren't that expensive, they're just tricky to search for.
2 mini dp, 2 dvi, and hdmi $50: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6814131682
1 dp, 1 hdmi, 2 dvi $68: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6814150716
2x dvi, 1 hdmi, 1 dp $88: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6814126051

There are other parameters to pay attention to, like the output resolutions and ram. Also some cards may have 4 or 5 outputs but it may not be possible to use them all at once or there may be a limit on the total resolution of all connected displays (read manual / specs carefully). Mfg's don't have to pay extra licensing fees to add display port, vga, or dvi ports, so they add these instead of hdmi ports. Just buy whatever type of cables/adapters you need.

You can also add a regular pci video card or a pci-e 1x card in addition to an 8x or 16x card. But I'd just use the onboard with a 16x card.

2 cheaper cards might be worth looking into if your motherboard has the PCIe slots for it (and if they are identical, even better - you won't have any weird driver issues) - note that it won't need to support SLI/crossfire for this
