New email deal alert look

alxshanti 5,836 480 April 23, 2016 at 08:38 AM
My email deal alerts suddenly look different: it's graphical. Used to be simple text with a hyperlink to the deal page. Is there a way for me to get back to the original deal alert look?

If you go to your account settings and uncheck the "Receive HTML Emails" setting you should receive those plain text emails again.

Hello and good morning,

I don't mind the graphical look so much BUT...

On the iphone mail preview screen you see:

"Saving Consumers Over $3 Billion Since 1999 Hi , we found a deal that matched your alert. "

I'm glad that you are saving me that much money (although it does seem I spend MORE because of SD), but couldn't that space be used to tell me about the deal in the email?

I get 100's if not 1000's of email a day and I try to go through and delete based on the email-overview screen without opening the actual email.

I appreciate all that you do!

Thanks for that feedback, and I agree. Smilie We'll look into improving that so the preview is more indicative of the alert's contents.

The orange deal alert ribbon on the top right reminds me of Taco Bell. I guess that's cool?

Completely agree! I usually check my deal alert emails on my phone and I can't read what the deal is until I open the email which defeats the purpose of a quick look see. I get so many deal alerts it's impossible to check them unless on a full fledged computer. Please eliminate that wording.

I agree. I'm already using slickdeals. I don't need to be reminded that people are saving money. Without the preview, I'd have to open each email alert.

And the Short Name of the Deal Alert doesn't show up in the subject line any more. Can you bring that back? Can't tell which emails are for which alerts.

Thanks for this feedback, will definitely circle back with the team and consider it. We tried maximizing the use of both subject line and preview text given other feedback from other users to make them more useful and less redundant. It enabled us to put the full title in the subject and the deal alert title in the preview text/body. Seemingly users would prefer to see the thread title match first versus the actual deal alert title. For your purposes would it still work if we simply moved the deal alert title to the end of the subject line after the thread title?

I think deal alert name is definitely needed. I have 2 ratings only alerts and right now I can't tell which one is which because there is nothing in the subject and the body only says something like a "rating alert" and no sign of the given alert name even in the email body.

I think you should put back the given alert name back at the beginning of the subject of the alert email. Some of the titles are too long and if you put it in the end, it will end up being truncated. Also most of the given alert names are not that long to begin with.

Please fix this soon, it is playing havoc with my inbox and I cant even tell which alert is which. The given alert name has historcially always been in the email subject.

The new Deal Alert with orange bell graphic in upper right within the email deal alert always reminds me of Taco Bell. When I first saw it it looked like perhaps Taco Bell was sponsoring. :-)
