Besides those 3 Infinity 3.0 figures dirt cheap (sadly I bought all 3 for $7.99 long ago), all of the Infinity 3.0 power discs are $1.99 (or $1.59 with GCU) at Best Buy now. That's certainly worth mentioning.

Also, Baloo has been $7.59 at Target.com and Amazon all week long. Amazon's price is (as usual) a Target pricematch, and I would expect it will end very soon as I believe it was part of Target's weekly special.

I got Baloo for $7.59 - 40% Cartwheel at Target last week.

I find getting price adjustments a bit of a hassle, especially if you bought online and have to call their 800 number. I find it much easier just to reorder at the lower price and return the first batch provided you are within your return time limit. Being Elite Plus and having 45 days and free shipping is helpful. Obtaining Elite Plus is super easy with a Best Buy Visa.

While I've gotten suckered (and/or allowed myself to be suckered) on figures way too many times because I'm often impatient and buy them at $8 each and sometimes they drop to $3-$6 each as we're seeing now, on the bright side I've been very strict on not paying more than 80c per power disc and waiting has paid off. I paid $1.89 (and now $1.59 for the last 2) for all my 3.0 ones and the 2.0 ones I got for $1-$1.60 each in the blind 2 packs.

The Infinity 3.0 (and Skylanders Superchargers) items have dropped faster this time than 2.0 and 1.0 (or prior Skylanders), so I'm wondering if that's a bad sign that stores are going to stop carrying them or Disney/Activision aren't making any more sequels. As much as I like Infinity, I like Skylanders more. I still haven't touched Lego Dimensions which I'm sure I'd really enjoy because they are WAY too expensive, even when they are on sale, compared to Infinity and Skylanders. Greed turns me off.

Thanks for the tip. I submitted an order for another set and I'll return off my first order. I've got the Elite status so that gives me 30 days for returns. These were the first power discs that I've bought and I figured I should have waited based on other slick deals I'd seen.

I've only bought a few of the Skylander starter packs but the last one hasn't even been opened yet. My daughter likes Disney Infinity and I think having the known characters helps keep her interested. I've heard that Skylanders has better gameplay. I'm also avoiding Lego Dimensions. I'm also not going to do anything with Amiibo. The Amiibo is more because I don't like that Nintendo makes some figures so limited (i.e. Earthbound's Ness). Lego Dimensions may still pull me in due to my love for Lego sets... but for now, I can resist.

The only annoying thing to me about Disney Infinity is the crystal figures and the Light FX. I already most of the regular figures but now I'm considering rebuying all the Light FX versions. Like the Anakin I just ordered. It doesn't seem like they do the crystal figures anymore so that's not really an issue at this point. I do appreciate that Disney quit doing the blind packs for power discs. I never bought any of them because of that.

I have been buying this stuff for like two years and we still haven't gotten to it so very silly question probably: why do I want these power discs?

Yeah, I'm in the same boat and bought too many expensive Skylanders the first few games. Dimensions at least I wasn't planning to buy anything for and only have a bunch because the fun packs have been $2-4 a number of times. Now the expensive sets need to have similar 75% off deals.

same here. I really don't know whether I should buy those power discs or not.
BTW, is it a good investment to join GCU?

Do you buy video games? If so then 100% yes. I think the break even point is around $180 spent over two years without GCU. Just on buying games on black Friday I pay for it several times over but just chipping a couple dollars off all this cheap stuff that pops up would pay for it alone.

The break even point is $150 over 2 years. it's $30 for 2 years.

You're right, don't know what I was thinking there but even more reason to get it.

So I watched videos with them all and they seem to range from costumes for certain characters to mounts to landscape themes for the toy box to powers/characters that charge up and you can use. Not a huge draw to me outside of the vehicles since I don't have the other corresponding characters or interest in the other stuff. Getting the Rise Against the Empire one for the vehicles and considering the Good Dinosaur one for the T-Rex family and Arlo mounts. Kind of considering the Marvel battlegrounds and Twilight of the Republic ones as well but not sure. Probably should just cave and order them at this price.

I believe Infinity is not going to go anytime soon. 3 new figures from Alice in the Wonderland are coming in June, there is a new play set for Finding Dory and there will be an update to Marvel Battelground. Disney has so many assets and old or upcoming movies to make money just by releasing figures. And it is still the best selling toy-to-life video game. And the final reward in 3.0 is a Kingdom Hearts item, so people are suspecting some Kingdom Hearts thing is at work for 4.0.

The most worrying is Skylanders. It certainly has better game play among all of them and they brought something new and innovative in every revision, but their figures don't have much resale market as they're the least collectible among all and while you can use the old figures in the game, you still need the new series' figure (even same character) for some specific function in the new game. And their main target audience are kids while Infinity and Dimensions have much broader audience.

It depends on how you play the game.
If you don't make your own Toy Box, like me, you certainly don't need the texture and sky power disc, otherwise, you might want some so to make Toy Box that is different than others.
If you play Marvel Batteground, you can use up to 6 Team Up or Event power discs of your choice for each battle.
If you play the racing toy box games, you might want some vehicles disc that will give you the advantage in racing.

Also, costume discs are not just for costume. All costume discs has its hidden effect on ANY character, some give you more melee damage, range weapon damage, lower damage taken, chance of reflecting damage, more sparks to buy toys, more sparks to faster leveling up and etc.

Some 1.0 discs (not 2.0/3.0) can be combined to achieve the 3rd hidden effect.
Most of time I use User Control (level up faster) and CHOME Damage Increaser (increase weapon damage) to get 3rd effect Grapple Hook (increase pickup range, similar to stud magnet in Lego games) so I don't need to run around to collect sparks.
