This drive has a slightly higher TBW than the EVO while offering the same 5 year warranty. This drive also has a higher MTBF than the EVO. For the price, this is really solid. FYI, the EVO is TLC NAND also so the TLC vs MLC argument is pretty much dead.

The TLC argument should have died a year ago. In another 2 years, we'll be hearing how QLC is worse than the new gold standard, TLC.

Agreed. I guess it helps merchants clear out stock. Hmmmmm....can you say conspiracy?

Amazon has it for $122.46 (http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-X40...op?ie=UTF8)

The 3camels says it has been as low as $117 recently, but this is still pretty slick imo!

must mean higher TB drives are coming out soon! sweet spot for a primary os is still 1tb.. still not affordable option except for enthusiasts, needs to reach about 2x price of hdd to be mainstream.. could make some slower(325MB/s r&w) ssd versions to get there

Don't waste your money. The Samsung EVO 850 is Superior to this in every way.

EVO uses superior 40nm 3d NAND. This sandisk uses obsolete sub 20nm JUNK 2D TLC memory. The memory in the EVO 850 is 4 time as durable.

Education is key. You are an idiot if you buy this SSD over an EVO 850.

It doesn't matter what the stated TBW is, it's still a low density drive thats overpriced.

Edit 1: $124.97 on amazon with prime (cheaper)
Edit 2: http://www.storagereview.com/sandisk_x400_ssd_review

Summary: Buy a 850 Evo if your after performance. If you want cheap. I believe SanDisk Ultra 2 SSDs sometimes dip as low as $200 per TB.

If you want extreme performance, the Samsung 950 NVME currently trumps all other consumer products. (Your motherboard has to support it.) Intel 750 is probably a close second with its pci-e interface, and capacitor backup during power loss. However... For some reason using a 750 card induces a 10-15 second delay during windows startup.
