I did this last go around and I still haven't gotten a magazine. I'm not saying I won't but it has been quite a while.

edit: just logged in and saw that it says it expects my first delivery will be in may. purchased in March.

You can check the status in your account. It took 3 months for ESPN sub to come through. It's the publisher, not discount mags...

When exactly did you order? Has it been over 12 weeks since your order date?

Where did you login? At DM or at the specific magazine website?

DM just uses estimates to give you a time frame of when to expect your first issue. They are using the industry standard of 8-12 weeks to receive your first issue.

This comes up a lot in magazine threads (folks posting they ordered but didn't receive their magazine). During the ordering process, the time frame for your first issue to arrive is indicated and it's also referenced in your email confirmation.

You can often view your specific subscription details at the website of the magazine you ordered (not the DM website).

Did you check to see if you have an active account at the Motor Trend website?

DM (and other 3rd party vendors) just send your order to the publisher, they (DM) don't actually send you the magazines, the publisher does that. Once the publisher processes your order, they'll have the most accurate information on your subscription. If they've processed your order from DM, you'll be able to see when your first issue will be sent, your exp date etc

A few years ago there were many offers in the freebies forum for these. I'm not sure about now.

And do people still read print magazines? I assumed most people get all their news from specialized/aggregated services?

Yes, it's true! Motor Trend is sometimes offered as a freebie. Is there a current freebie for it? Sadly, no.
