Open box is $645 online, and less if you find one local. This is not a good price.

Seems to be a little less expensive on Amazon right now too. They have it listed for $746.00, no gift card in that case though:

This is far from the best deal on this camera. This has been less expensive in the past, and hopefully better deals are not too far off.

FujiFilm would be the better route to go IMHO for mirrorless, the money saved can be put towards lenses which are much more reasonably priced than Sony lenses are. Just my two cents for those looking to get into mirrorless.

The best deal on this camera kit was during the Thanksgiving time. I missed those deals. Since then, I have been kept checking on the price of this camera kit. Deals were not that good. I think this deal is the best deal on this camera kit (new) since Thanksgiving.

Would you recommend I get the open box for $640? The condition according to the website is "excellent". Have you had experience with open box in Best Buy?

That's not true - Fuji glass is as expensive if not more than Sony. At this point Sony has a larger lens selection than x-mount too

I've gotten open box two lens kits from Best Buy for around $500-550 with a little negotiation, and 10% rewards through my Best Buy card.

That said remember that open box cameras do not carry manufacturer warranties any more...

Just throw them an offer. Make sure to ask to check out the kit before you make an offer - a lot of times they'll miss a tiny little scratch or nick somewhere, or maybe the box is beat up, or a missing cord. I've been able to get about 20% off of the price on the open box in the store

If the first buyer didn't register the camera with Sony, then you just go and register it and get the full warranty. I've done this several times.
