They must pay the pilots peanuts. Aircraft maintenance is expensive, they must cut corners. Not worth pinching pennies on these things imho.

Not at all. This is a simple way to fill an otherwise empty jet. They are transporting the jet for next client to LA anyhow.

Typical paid flight SF > LA can be $2600 cheapest in a crappy jet (guesstimate)
