I read the reviews on Amazon, they say you can spray oil (like Pam or olive oil ) on your food to make it crispier.

"Unique cooking system evenly "fries" your favorite foods using a combination of infrared and convection technology - all without oil"

I think it's the infrared part that people find useful and the compact size.

Agreed... Had a family friend give us a Philips Air Fryer, was super excited until I tried it out. Basically its an oven, even if you spray some oil onto the food, I couldn't mimic the flavors of deep frying, it came out like I put it in the oven. They should call these things an Air Dryer, because my chicken was pretty dry.

Wasn't this $5 dollars cheaper not too long ago and several times? Why the popularity all of a sudden?
