Here's my Jomahshop story:

Bought an in-stock watch for my wife. 2 days later I get a back order notice of 2-3 weeks. No problem. 2 days after that I get a back order notice of 4-6 weeks. Still no problem. Then I move pretty suddenly from one place to another, so naturally I contact them and say "I just moved. I don't want to cancel my order. Is there any way to modify the shipping address?" Half a day later I get a cancellation email from Jomah. Their helpful rep explains that the address can't be modified, that I'll have to redo the order. I check, and obviously the watch I tried it buy is out of stock and not even on the site anymore. I now have to find watch elsewhere. The end.

Jomashop has terrible customer service. If you plan on ordering from them with regular shipping it will take at least a month for it to just ship from their warehouse. Their watches are always "back ordered" even though it says that it's currently in stock.

that actually isn't a unique story. some places require the billing address to be on file at the credit company. it prevents some fraud. being able to get an order placed with the correct address and then calling to change it defeats the purpose of validating it on the frontend.

that being said, there should be a reasonable way to do it. odds are they canned your order because they couldn't get new stock.

whenever I check watches from Joma, I always see one or more stories of them screwing something.

perhaps SD needs to ban their link here till they step up the service...

I've bought a few watches from Joma and never had a problem. I suspect, as with any grey market small business selling at big discounts, they will have issues from time to time. They don't have a large enough margin to cover expenses the way a high end store does. Of course Tourneau can bend over backwards to make you happy, their markup is HUGE.

They probably did you a favor. Just about any third party service that these places use to verify web credit card orders would have red flagged you for attempting that. It's obviously their fault for selling you a watch that they didn't have in stock, but what happened after makes sense.

Did me a favor? I don't really think so. Jomah does lots of business - surely they have a way to modify an existing order to use a different payment method, or barring that, they at least have a way to help me place a new order directly after cancelling an old one (considering the cancelled order has technically freed up some stock).
