I've never been a fan of the 1911. But I might bite. Can never have to many in your Amory. Seems like a good deal. TU for a gun post. I just ordered a wilson combat Beretta and have been looking at their 1911s. Cheapest seems to be in the 3k range.

The Remington R1 is a very nice entry level 1911. It's nowhere near a 3K Wilson combat 1911 but it has an excellent reputation on reliability and accuracy. Considering the original design is over a century old, the 1911 is still a very popular handgun.

How about compared to Ruger's SR1911?

damn! I would totally jump on this if I wasn't buying a house this month. Been waiting for a deal on a solid 1911 platform to customize. I'll just have to keep shooting my xdm40 so I can put this one out of my mind. Hopefully a similar deal pops up next month.

not automatic and doesn't hold more than ten rounds so I don't see why not. I'm a novice that's only done research, so "take it with a grain of salt"

i think the mag size is fine but it isn't listed. might not have the right safety or been through a drop test.

I bought one of these from grabagun about a month ago. The one I received was manufactured at the new plant in Huntsville, AL... Fit and finish is excellent. You can't beat $450 for an American made 1911. Note, The Remington warranty is only 2 years... Still waiting on my mail in rebate ($75 at the time)

I have the stainless version picked up last summer. It's a good shooter and I've had zero issues.

love how the website classifies accepted firearms as "safe guns". its the owner who should be classified as safe or dangerous, guns dont jump up and fire by themselves.
