I would first like to preface by saying I like the magazine because there is something interesting DIY to me in each issue. I picked it up like 3 months ago as a FP deal for like 5 bucks (still waiting for my first issue BTW).

Be careful with this magazine subscription. I wouldn't allow them to have your credit card info, use paypal for sure.

The reviews on amazon spell it out pretty well:
-Sending you items and charging you for it because you kept it.
-Claiming that they put extra work into issues and calling it a double feature, thereby deducting two months from your subscription.
-Starting your subscription at the time of order, but not sending an issue for 3 months.

I personally have been quite disappointed in the actual level of content in the magazine. More than half of the thing is paid advertisements. If that's the case, the thing should be free IMO.

I made sure to use amazon magazine subscription manager to get mine. That way they don't have my financial info and can't send me "gifts" that cost money. I would assume paypal would avoid this situation also.

Edit: FWIW the two year subscription is only 15.00 on amazon magazine (only .50 cents more per year) . It might be worth it to have the amazon level of customer service on your side. Great find though OP.

Agreed. I have subscribed with this magazine for 2 years and the last 5 months are disappointment.

Good deal. But worth noting that Family Handyman is available through Zinio at most local library systems. So you can load it to phone/tablet.

I just got another 2 years, good for toilet reading and some DIY ideas. Don't mind the tool write up either

Not worth it IMO, lots of ads and poor content.

I love this magazine... Yeah, there is too many ads, but for the price, I'm fine with the monthly project... I'm almost done with the much needed Mitre Saw stand from Nov. 15
