Mountain House Just In Case Essential Bucket is $47.99 at Amazon. Not the very lowest price according to Camelx3, but pretty close.

It indeed is "pretty close." The lowest price sold by Amazon for this product is $45.47, and that was on 03/22/2014, over two years ago.

These pouches are much lighter and take up less space. Though of course you do need to add water. That being said, these are great for backpacking and can be good for emergency survival food if you also store water.

You'll need to add hot water. Which can be challenging in a true survival situation. A can of chili you can just pop open and eat. Carbs, protein and at least some fluid. They also keep forever. I ate a can from 2002 a couple of weeks back. To be honest, the beans weren't the best but I didn't die so there's that. As long as a can isn't bulging, rotted or seriously dented, it's viable.

Thanks OP, bought this last year on a lightening deal for $51, this is even better. Slowly building up my storage, now up to 5 buckets all Mountain House.

I more or less do this but with Chunky soup. Expiration is usually a couple years out. I stock up when it goes on sale and rotate out the older stuff as I eat it.

Some people, like myself, use these for camping. Chili is heavy and I get gassy enough backpacking, I don't need to be more gassy eating straight up beans. Also, they taste pretty good, but IMO, these 3 flavors are not their best, so I didn't get in on the deal.
