Fishing pole for lake

hype 434 61 April 27, 2016 at 02:54 PM More Amazon Deals
I just recently moved right next to a lake and wanted to start fishing again but it has been years and I do not know much about picking poles honestly. I heard some good things about Ugly Stik which is a definite possibility and if possible I would like something a bit portable but at the end of the day I would much rather have quality over portability. The only requirement I know I want for sure is that it is at least a 6'0 rod.

Unless there is an amazing deal else where I would like to get it at Amazon since I have a good amount of gc credit. I would like to keep it at $40 or less unless there is a much better pole for a bit more. These were the two I was checking out since they seem to fit my needs, got good reviews and are not too expensive.

My advice? Pick the style of reel you like and buy a package. At this level it doesn't really matter what brand you buy. UglyStik is a fiberglass rod which is tougher than graphite but not as stiff/fast. I use an UglyStik for my ultralight rig.
