Is Ryobi and Hitachi interchangeable. I thought I read somewhere that Ryobi is HD version of Hitachi. Or I must be smoking something! TIA.

Thanks for posting OP. I just got the email as well and was going to post it on here. I have been looking for a trimmer and blower for a couple months now and the $80 combo pack is ideal for me. I had bought a similar B&D set last year for about $100, but the trimmer had issues and ended up whipping on my lower leg. I'll give this new Ryobi set a shot, especially since I was almost going to buy the same combo as a refurbished trimmer and blower last week for about $100.

You're definitely smoking something, and it's not good stuff.

I'm with Phatty waiting on the deal on the higher end Blower. Don't need the trimmer. But that's a good deal on the combo with the 4AH battery. I personally wouldn't consider getting one of the outdoor kits unless it has the 4AH battery.

Is the jet blower combo a decent deal? I have a hedge trimmer witha 2.0 battery and the string trimmer would be nice with a 4.0 battery

They all come with 2 batteries and a charger it looks like too... Good deal.
The mower kit and the three tool combo come with 2 batteries. The other kits only come with just one battery.

Darn, I was hoping for a deal on the 40V version of the leaf blower:

I just returned the trimmer/blower combo last week because both items are trash. The box came unmarked and all damaged, looked like they threw the items in together (blower looked used with minor smudges on it). The blower didn't have enough power to move a small pile of leaves. The trimmer has a very small cutting area and lacks power as well.

Notice that you can't get these in store, they have to be shipped. I think these may be floor models and returns they are repackaging and sending out. The in store people had a very difficult time processing the return because of the abnormal combination which does not appear in their system.

A shame really, because I've always had pretty good luck with Ryobi 18v tools in the past and I have a lot of the batteries so I wanted to give them a try. Need at least 40v for these items.

The "jet" blower works about as well as my girlfriends giant hair dryer. No kidding. The hedge trimmer handles break off. So much so they sell them in 3 packs at parts places. And the batteries die much faster than most brands.

Unless you have a very minscule amount of yard work to do like the patio of a condo (which at that point you might as well use hand tools) you're better off investing in the 40v tools. I have most of the ryobi 40v ones and they're fairly well built and get the job done well on my 1/4 acre plot. Any larger and I'd switch back to gas.
