This is one of BestBuy's Deal of the Days. I literally just bought one from Amazon at full price because they rarely go on sale. You will have to pad your order to get to $35 for free shipping on the regular version, or do store pickup. Voice remote version is free shipping. Sorry for confusion in title. Hope this helps someone!

Edit: Amazon has the same prices, which may be more than a one day sale, but only ships free on orders of $49 or more, so you woyld need to pad your order or have prime.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Thoughts on this vs the new Roku streaming stick? Should I go with this or wait for a deal on the Roku?

Roku will have a faster processor. Firestick has better apps.

Already bought three of them and installed Kodi but after using Nexus player I have stopped using them. Nexus is way better and faster.

Isn't Kodi just a different interface? Does it give more functionality or something?

Has anyone figured out a fix for the battery life on the remote? Mine sucks down batteries like there's no tomorrow and ofc when the remote doesn't work the stick doesn't work.

use the fire tv app on your phone. I use the app instead of the remote because it has a keyboard integration so you don't have to scroll with the remote for what your looking for.

short story: When people say Kodi they mean it can do illegal stuff.

I get that you're summarizing and maybe a lot of people do, but illegal is a bit misleading there are some other great uses. I'm currently using Kodi mainly so the box can stream my HDHomerun channels properly.

It's basically a different interface that evolved from Windows Media Center. It has ways to automate downloading/organizing/transcoding your media (TV/Movies/Music/Photos/etc) across your network. The illegal stuff he was referencing is that many people use it for viewing downloaded shows/movies rather than paying for the content.

It's also nice to have a uniform look/interface for all your HTPCs (if you run several) as well as Amazon TV/sticks.

the ability for the fire tv to side load apps makes it trump any other popular stick/box.
