Do not use this with API Stress Coat. Amine-based polymers like that will render Purigen non regenerable and is dangerous if you try to regenerate it with bleach.

It's in use for aquariums to help clear water as well as ammonia/nitrates. I had foggy water for a short time after adding sand to my tank and got this and it made it crystal clear in 24 hours. I put it in front of my filter. It's a little pouch full of white looking bead shape things.

You can "regenerate" them by soaking them in bleach but since they're not too expensive I just get new ones.

Thanks for this! It's great to see deals about the aquarium hobby on slickdeals.

I have had aquariums for many years and can say that purigen works and it works really well. It basically is an organic resin product which is able to pick up organics such as nitrate. It also works really well at removing tannins from the water. Tannins tint that yellow color when you use drift wood. Another great thing about purigen is that it can be recharged with a mixture of bleach and water. I do this a few times before buying a new one. I have both saltwater and freshwater aquariums and this works well for both. Hope this helps someone debating on whether to buy this or not.

This doesn't just help with the stated materials. My UV filter bulb exploded in the my sump, leaving black soot in the water. When I got home I already lost some livestock due to it but a new batch of his stuff cleaned up the water before I lost all coral and livestock.
