Yeah, if it had been an 850C, I may have bit. Still, good price, just not quite there. I want a good price on the JS8500 at 65...

This is known as the light bleeding corner TV. Can't believe Sony QC would go down the toilet like this.
Good price if it weren't for the bleeding.

secondipity refurb checks for light leakage so the ones you receieved basically have quality controlled twice.
tv that has issues or damages are then sold here

IPS panel in this TV -- great for wide viewing angles, not so great for black levels and contrast ratio.
The aesthetics are fantastic -- extremely thin with the brushed metal stand.

How do you know Secondipity has verified these items (especially for light bleed)? Is it listed on their site and/or do they provide a guarantee? I was very interested, but Amazon reviews should be enough to scare anyone away from this TV unless you have a lot of assurances.

I called Squaretrade earlier for refurb TV from BJ's, and they said that they would not cover. Might want to double check that.

30 days.
and on liquidation.com you can see the grading sheet on all of the TV that didn't make it to their secondipity site. both sites are owned by liquidity services inc.

I read through their contract language and there is no mention of not covering refurb units. There is a section toward the bottom labeled "What is not covered" and it lists private party sales, estate sales, craigslist but no mention of either eBay or Refurb/liquidation units.

I would tend to believe what you are saying though because the refurb market can be very sketchy.

I've been watching their listing on eBay since Secondipity lowered the price to $1,499 about a week ago. Interesting that they haven't lowered the price there to match the $1,299 price on their own site but I get they have more costs associated with eBay transactions.

The light bleed issues are worse on the bottom 2 corners on this set, and it's due to the stand/feet if used. I've read countless reviews from those who have wall mounted it and the majority don't have as bad of a problem but it still exists around the perimeter.

For the 65" aren't you able to put the legs much closer to the center of the TV? For those not wall mounting that may help a little...or not.
