This is a great deal if you're just looking for singular bulbs. If not, then I recommend you buy the 3 pack of lightbulbs and the hub here for $99.99:

https://www.store.meethue.com/us/...it-gen-1-0

Also the Bloom 1st Gen is on sale for $49.99, lowest I think it's been:

The new version is not a whole lot better at green, and blue is pretty purplish to me. Does great with white though.

At this price I definitely think it's worth it. You're right about the green and yellow, I think the white is pretty decent though. I have 6 of these in my room alone and I got them synced up with my TV so it's definitely awesome when watching movies or gaming. Way worth it in my opinion.

How did you synch it to your TV? Simple hack or complicated process? Would love to do this but lazy as !#$%.

Hey. Which method did you use to sync them to the TV?

The way I'm doing it right now is using a Java Applet called Hue Immersive. It basically runs on your computer, and depending on what is on your screen it will change your lights accordingly using the average color. It's an awesome app. So what I do is I use my Xbox One to watch TV and play games, and I stream it to my computer using the Xbox app on Windows 10, and the lights in my whole room react. You can get the applet here:

I agree. The green and yellows aren't very good but the white is not bad at all. This price point is great, and the starter kit is a fantastic deal.

Funny because in my opinion the 1st gen (no experience with 2nd gen) does not do purple well at all. It looks more like a washed out blue than anything. I say this as someone who's tried to put purple on the lights for Washington Huskies games.

The 2nd gen is supposed to be brighter, it's apparently 800 lumens. But people claimed that they haven't noticed any differences between them. I think they have comparison videos on YouTube you can look at. Besides that nothing... the 2nd Gen Hub support Apple Homekit. I don't have an iPhone and I never will, so that means nothing to me lol.

I'm tempted by the Philips Hue 9W E26 Gen 1 starter kit for $99 any things I should consider from this kit that I might want from the 2nd generation?

Having an Echo and a top I'm starting to look at this lights, but I'm still new to all this.

The 2nd generation is brighter by 200 lumens and it's updated so you can connect via Apple Homekit. If you don't use Apple Homekit, I recommend the 1st gen. I have 1st generation and it suits all of my needs.
