Not a bad price for an Eco-Drive watch.

This watch is currently going for 146 at Amazon.

The cheapest I have ever gotten a citizen eco drive was $86 and it was grey market. I think this is a good deal if you like the style.

When people talk about how quartz killed automatics, this is why. Great build quality, solar powered for life, incredibly accurate. There is simply nothing missing from this watch (besides personal preference regarding looks) and it is basically just 100 bucks. Incredible.

Bought and submitted rebate. No confirmation screen from slickdeals. Went to some funky monkey survey about politics. Does slickdeals send a confirmation they received the rebate request?

While you say "solar powered for life", just remember that all solar powered watches rely on (besides an ample light source, obviously) having a working rechargeable battery inside to function properly.

In other words, a lot of uninformed folks don't realize that a 'solar-powered watch' could (and should) be more accurately described as a 'rechargeable (by a solar light source) battery powered watche'.

This means that sometime in the future (typically 5-15 years, depending on a few variables like usage & actual battery capacity), the watch will no longer operate, thus requiring the owner to take the watch (or send it to the manufacturer) to a watch repair shop/jeweler in order to replace the internal rechargeable battery, which will have lost the ability to no longer receive/retain a charge (as ALL rechargeable batteries eventually suffer from).

I just thought I'd throw this info. into this thread for those folks buying this or any 'solar powered watch', especially first time buyers of 'solar powered rechargeable battery powered watches'.

And kinetic watches are similar in that they also have batteries which will also eventually need replacing. I really wish that some manufacturer would make a 'multipowered hybrid watch' that would run off solar or kinetic but would also work by the old way of simply keeping it continually wound. Perhaps it's out there but I don't know about it yet? :-)

All this said, this is a nice watch and at basically $100, it's a pretty good price too (w/the option to easily return it to a local Macy's w/in 90 days is an added bonus).

i got one of those $14 casio watches with 10 year battery. turns out the plastic strap broke first and costs more than the watch to replace. hopefully this one lasts longer.😁

I totally agree with you. I have three Eco-Drive Citizen's. They are virtually set and forget. Very accurate. While I don't particularly care for this one, Citizen make some very attractive models. I have never understood why people buy automatics.
They cost more, are not as accurate, need regular, expensive maintenance. Need an auto winder unless you wear it often. This is a very good price, I have never seen an Eco-Drive for less.
