Just bought the i5 version with 500gb HDD, new from Amazon (ships and sold by) for $610 after tax. They haven't even shipped yet. Should I go with this instead?

I mean, the person I'm getting it for will definitely never take advantage of the i7 and it is refurbished, but I just can't shake the feeling that I'm paying more for the weaker machine..

get this. it has a ssd which your i5 version does not.

ive had refurbished units from dell and have had no issues. they come with a one year warranty directly from dell. im not sure about this one.

i had picked up a dell desktop that was a "scratch and dent" and it came like it was brand new. it was 3 years ago and i'm still using it right now with no issues.

edit:
"Dell Official Certified Refurbished Laptop, No dent No Scratches, Works and Looks like new. Warranty expires Apr.2017" you have till april of next year on the warranty so that's like 11 months.

Description says warranty expires April 2017. Did you buy your refurb directly from Dell or from a seller on Amazon like this one?

Actually from microsoft store, it is $674 now for brand new. Not a good price for a refurbished one

Here's the MS version, and it's $750. Always buy a "signature edition" over anything from Dell if they're the same price.

BTW - this took 90 seconds to find...

Try to buy one at 674 they said the student discount and sale event doesn't combine anymore. Anyone has success recently?

Awesome hardware, might bite if it had better resolution. And at over 3lbs tablet feature is a no go, wish they would just offer a normal non-convertible and shave 1/2 a pound off. Good deal for those who don't mind though.

Really? You can see the $674 price? It worked three days ago and doesn't work for me now. Keep showing up as 749. I called them, they say 749 is already on a discount and student discount can't be combine with this. How did yours work?
