Change sharing option on slickdeals app

RUsum1 9,544 1,696 May 1, 2016 at 08:51 AM
Somehow my slickdeals app now defaults to opening a QR code when clicking the share link. I want to share something through a text message. How do I change this?

When I go to settings > apps and select Slickdeals, it says there are no default apps but it still won't give me an option to choose something else when clicking "Share"

I'm on Android

Thank you however I think this is more inherent to Android rather than the app itself. I clicked the share link and I think my phone delayed which caused me to choose a random program to run the sharing function which is now the QR code thing. I'm pretty sure it's a phone setting that I now need to change rather than an app setting but then again I have no idea. Hopefully I can get it figured out

ah ok. to me it seemed possible that maybe there was a glitch in how the default was getting assigned, which would be an app issue. i can move it back to tech support if you prefer laugh out loud

Maybe it is a problem with the app? I uninstalled the app and installed the newer version but I still get the same problem.

I hit Facebook for sharing by mistake a few days ago. I had it go to Facebook to post to share the deal. In the past I have emailed the deal. Here is the fix (and for other apps too):

Easy, easy, easy

1. Go to Applications in Settings
2. Open Applications Manager
3. Page down to the app opening up when you hit share (Mine was Facebook)
4. Open App
5. Hit Set as Default
6. Hit Clear Defaults
7. Exit to Home Screen

Now open Slickdeals and share a deal as below:

You will have to select the default app again on any app that used that certain app to open an action. On Slickdeals, a choice will be given on what app you want to use to share.

I have no idea what app it's opening though. It brings up a QR code

I have the exact problem. For me it allows to share the deals only via email, without asking me or anything. When I click the share button it automatically opens my Gmail.

Can you let me know what specific device you are using, and operating system? We believe this is a device specific issue, but want to confirm before I can give troubleshooting tips or a fix. Thanks!

I have the same issue. When I hit share it opens Facebook and does not allow me to share the deal any other way. I'm using the SD app on Galaxy S7 Edge.

Just following up and sorry for the delay in response: we will have this corrected in our next Android release, coming very soon.

Wow! That is awesome, because mine has accidentally been set to default to Clipboard and I cannot clear defaults to the "clipboard" app because it doesn't show up on my list of "defaults".

Hey guys - We are aware of this issue, believe it is related to Android 6.0 (so let us know if you are not on that OS). As I mentioned above we will have corrected in our next release (coming very soon) - thanks for reporting and sorry for the inconvenience! I'll follow up once the new release is out to verify things are working correctly
