The coupon code for the free drill doesnt seem to work anymore.

EDIT: Nevermind, forgot to add the drill to my cart first. My shipping was slightly higher at $11.71. Thanks!

I have this exact drill. It lacks features like a locking bit. You say "it's free", but I notice you need to spend 40 to get this. Just FYI.

I picked up the drill/driver since I was needing one for assembling furniture, so I guess the corded drill is a bonus. What does a locking bit do? Does the lack of it make using it annoying? Thanks!

It keeps the drill bit from slipping after you tighten it down, that's all

I've been using mine around the house for spring projects and it does have a tendency to slip on tougher surfaces, but my bits aren't as straight or sharp as they used to be. If you're really concerned about slipping, you can get bits with hex-shaped bases. I've seen them for sale at Harbor Freight.

Even with the occasional slip, no complaints here.

Hi K7S5A Smilie

Yes, that is correct. That's why I said the part about ..

" ... w/ a $40 purchase when you apply FREEDRILL at checkout"

because you do have to make the $40 purchase in order to get the item.

Hi BigFontana Smilie

Thanks for the heads-up on the shipping.
When I tried the deal out, I got $7.99 shipping. I know that BigSkyTool is out of Georgia.. so I'm thinking, East Coast is $7.99 and West Coast is around $11.71

I didn't realize they had varying shipping costs.. I appreciate the heads-up.

My ancient Sears Craftsman 18V needs to a new battery. One new battery is close to just getting this.

Any thoughts on dropping to a lower voltage? I don't do anything major. I drill wood screws into pine/cedar to build a raised garden bed.

I have nothing to worry about 12V. My craftsman evolve 12V did everything I asked it to do, right from masonry to aluminium bar. With right bit, I am sure it will work just fine; you do need to remember it is not for pro use.
