This is a MLC drive. Review here [thessdreview.com]. Looks like a sold performer.
If write performance is important this definitely beats most TLC drives. It's also ~$10 more than most TLC drives.

I'm looking to put my boot drive on an SSD. At $70, is this PNY drive a better value given performance, reliability and durability over the Samsung 850 EVO? It's been a while since I have seen the 256 GB 850 Evo on sale. I'm figuring I wouldn't be one to notice the difference in performance (basic needs of web surfing, word processing, photo editing, transcoding iPhone videos to MP4 while storing most stuff on a regular HDD) so I guess I'm wondering if the PNY is good enough in terms of reliability that I should get this one instead of waiting for a good deal on the Samsung. I have read that MLC drives are more durable, but the Samsung 850 EVO has a 5 year warranty (vs. 4years for this PNY drive).

If I have sufficient money I will go for EVO because they are reliable and fast but if I don't want to spend $80 then I will buy this drive because this drive has good review on Amazon and it is fast. PNY has been known to change internal components without changing the drive name/ model and that's why I keep away from any brand other than Samsung and Intel

I wouldn't say "full of spams and scams" some would be targeted to make more money for SD. If it's full of it, why even bother to be here?

I have used pny in the past, and never had a failure, so far so good, YMMV.
