Amazon.com [amazon.com] just dropped the price on the orange Spyderco Delica 4 folding knife to $49.69 (+ tax for some) with free shipping (Prime eligible, shipped and sold by Amazon). The Delica rarely drops below $60, so this is a pretty good price for what might be the most popular EDC knife of all time. The VG-10 steel is great for the money, the non-slip FRN handle has great ergonomics, and the lockback is very secure. The price will go back to $65 soon, so you should probably jump on this.

Overall Length 7.125 " (181 mm)
Blade Length 2.875 " (73 mm)
Steel VG-10
Closed Length 4.25 " (108 mm)
Edge Length 2.563 " (65 mm)
Weight 2.3 oz. (64 g)
Blade Thickness .093 " (2.5 mm)
Handle FRN

Got the alert thus morning from CCC... Thought I'm not as big of a Delica fan as the rest of the world seems to be, this is a great price for a very practical and bomb proof knife.

Delica is fantastic, especially with the flat grind, though I still think the Calypso Jr (similar size, now discontinued) had a little bit better ergonomics.

If you're looking for a pocket knife of this size, you can't go wrong.

love this knife. great steel holds a really sharp edge for a while even with abuse. touching it up with my sharpmaker brings it back to hair shaving quick. wish it deployed faster or that the zip tie trick worked right with it. 8/10 IMO.

Spyderco makes some of the best knives out there. I EDC a Manix and love it.

Ever since I found out how good clones from China are getting, it is harder to drop even this $$ for the delica when a scarily well produced paramilitary 2 can be had for under $20 not to mention the savings on some midtech customs. Not that I don't prefer to support originals (just dropped over $100 for a spidey centofante 4), but it is getting harder to justify with my SD cap at the expense of my knife guy cap.

Do they use Japanese or USA made steel?

They usually are 440C for the replicas.

The grind on the other hand is a different story. It is saber ground with a fairly shallow relief edge. Because of this the blade is strong and sharp, but to be honest, it struggles with slicing tasks, such as food preparation.

this. i dislike china (hate) but these american knife companies have been feasting on exorbitant profits for too long. market has been primed for disruption, and disruption benefits the savy buyer.

I'm trying to figure out what the legal blade length law for San Francisco, CA is, I'm not sure if it is 2.5in or under 3in. Anyone know what the specific law states?

I agree, ganzos and sanrenmu's are excellent quality for the price but they are always kind of heavy compared to the kershaw sklines and spydercos im used to. Do you have any particular recommendations for good chinese knives?

For the most part, that was the case. They used to falsely advertise S30V and even D2, but more and more these days are testing out to be actually D2 steel, which is a decent quality steel. I also hear the more established manufacturers are importing a lot of S35VN for the midtech clones, so you pay in the $100-$150 range for a $750-$3000 original custom, complete with ceramic ball bearings and flipper action that rivals the originals.
