Sorry if this was posted already, searched a few times and didn't see anything really matching on 'target ebay'. Anyways, I know it's been said recently that the red card to buy eBay gift cards no longer was working to get 5% off. Their site looks like it recently updated and right now it's working again. Not sure for how long, but it may help those of you that were stuck with a lot of target gift cards.

Can someone explain to me about this red card. If I buy a Target gift card from Ebay and turn around and use it to purchase a Ebay gift card at Target, how does the red card come into play? Isn't it a credit card?

If I'm paying for my Ebay gift card at Target using a gift card, how do you get the extra 5% using Red Card?

OP, you might want to fix the subject of this thread (Red Count -> Red Card).

I'm not sure what the OP is talking about the gift card stuff. As you probably know, if you pay with the Target Red Card, it gives a 5% discount on purchases. A Target GC wouldn't come into play AFAIK. (The exception might be if you covered part of the purchase with a GC and part with the Red Card -- my memory is fuzzy, but I seem to remember getting the 5% discount on an entire purchase in the past when only part of it was paid with the Red Card. I could very well be wrong, or this may have changed since then.)

Do you know how long this has been in effect? I've never had a problem

Thousands of masterminds work so hard in every ebay rolling deal thread, so that even the dumbest and laziest people know how to roll, and now the deal is dead.
Same thing happened to Target 5% and is happening in this thread.

Ok, I always wondered why people were mentioning the Red Card when talking about buying Target cards on Ebay. I thought I was missing out on something but turns out I'm not. :-).

What people were doing was going to Target online and purchasing the Ebay gift card with 5.00 discount on 100 and then turning around and using on Ebay to buy at the time discounted Taget card. But since we can no longer roll Ebay cards best you can do is 5% off Ebay cards at Target but can't roll. I think I understand now. Thanks.

Recard is either a credit card or a card tied into your debit card (no fees)
Its a loophole in the system.
you can buy a 3rd party gift card like ebay or disney with a redcard and receive a 5% discount
however you can also churn a target gift card to a 3rd party gift card and still receive a 5% even though you paid nothing out of your redcard..just have redcard as a form of payment but apply all you target gift cards for the total sum..
This was removed a few weeks back but now active again which makes the churns much more profitable.
added bonus use cashback sites and add a small item (hand soap) that is included in the cashback % and typically you receive the full amount..plus free ship

Did you try it in the past week or so? Saw it mostly mentioned around the 20th of last month when it stopped.

In my screenshot that's what I did. I paid the cost in full with a gift card but if you also apply your red card you'll get the 5% discount. Bought a discounted target gift card to then go buy the eBay gift cards at target for another 5% discount.

Interesting. Seems you could keep doing this -- buy a discounted Target GC on eBay, use that to buy an eBay GC at Target for 5% off, then use that eBay GC to continue the loop. eBay GCs can no longer be used to buy eBay GCs, but this would appear to be a workaround that, with enough time and effort, could actually turn into a moneymaker.

I buy quite a bit from eBay. I never really go through the effort of rolling eBay gift cards back to target & back to eBay again. I mostly just never buy anything on eBay with cash/credit. I always get gift cards at discount rolled through target. Keep a few hundred in eBay gift cards around and refill as I use to just get bigger discounts on already discounted items at eBay.

Have to be careful, I haven't run into it, but others say there's quarterly limits to how much money in gift cards you can spend at eBay.
